At Victorian College for the Deaf, we recognise the integral role that Auslan plays in our community as a rich language and accessible mode of communication. This is why we not only offer the subject to our own students, but to students from other schools as well.
Throughout the course students learn the fundamentals of Auslan in a supportive, Deaf friendly environment. Classes are interactive and inclusive – Deaf, Hard of Hearing and hearing students will be asked to work together to build their communication skills and develop their language competency.
The VCE Auslan program is held after regular school hours in order to accommodate students travelling across Melbourne. We also offer a small number of distance education placements for students studying in regional areas to access the course remotely.
The course does involve a cost for external students, and enrolments are accepted on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Further information and enrolment forms will be available in Term 3 each year. To express your interest in the course and ensure you receive enrolment information, please contact the college at firstname.lastname@example.org.
