Hospitality Program combines a Certificate II in Kitchen Operations (SIT20312) with a Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning at intermediate level in a bilingual language environment (Auslan/Written English). Students can integrate this VET Certificate in Kitchen Operations within a VCE or VCAL syllabus.

Job Roles

This qualification provides a pathway to work in kitchen operations in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes, cafeterias, coffee shops, and institutions such as aged care facilities, hospitals prisons and schools.

Class expectations

Students will learn how to work with their colleagues in a polite and friendly manner. They will work independently and in teams taking instructions from each other so that they can work to a time frame and complete a quality end product. Students will learn how to use the kitchen equipment safely. Students will lean about food safety, storage and kitchen hygenie.


Students will receive informal and specific assessments throughout the year. Assessment will include observation of participation, ability to work in a team, photographs of finished product using iPads and class discussion. Provided all course requirements are met and students have attended the necessary number of classes they will receive the certificate at end of the course.


Students are required to submit an expression of interest to the Hospitality VET coordinator.
