The Bluestone Building

FJ Rose Auditorium

This has been unveiled by His Excellency the Honourable Sir William Deane, AC, KBE Governor – General of the Commonwealth of Australia – 27th March 1998.

It is used for all types of formal assembly: lectures, award ceremonies, dramatic plays, theatre productions, workshops and so on. These varied events place a range of demands on the room. For all events, it is essential that everyone in the room see, clearly and enjoyably, everything that is presented.

Garden

School garden is a wonderful way to use as a classroom, reconnect students with the natural world and the true source of their food, and teach them valuable gardening and agriculture concepts and skills that integrate with several subjects, such as maths, science, art, health and physical education, and social studies, as well as several educational goals, including personal and social responsibility/developments.

Kitchen/Hospitality

It is important to know that you are not being taught “cooking’. You are being trained for working at entry level in Commercial Cookery. This involves learning to use commercial cookery equipment that is not found in domestic kitchens. Hence the importance of study days here at school were you learn to use commercial equipment and work-placement where you will work in a commercial kitchen. It is also mandatory that you are assessed in a fully operational commercial kitchen.

Visual Arts Room

VCD has a large, light filled, purpose built art room complete with a kiln for firing clay work. Each week, every class has a session of hands-on art making. New projects often begin with discussing and responding to the work of a relevant artist. Investigating historical and contemporary artworks allows students to discover the important role of visual art in shaping societies and cultures.
