ARTICLE: "In respect of the historial process of the Institute's establishment exceeding 150 years, being as very enriched heritage and the possibility of upholding on specific education and knowledge to all deaf children throughout the generations.Reckoning on the basic foundation which begun in November 1860 that a deaf teacher Mr F.Rose who taught his first pupil (Lucy Lewis) about the relevant Gospel messages through her writings on preserved excercise book.
The Institute's blessed motto still remains as "Utmost for the Highest". Thank God for this.
I will be looking forward to join the celebrations of the 150th anniversary

I attended Victoria School for the Deaf between 1945-1955, boarding until 1949 then commuting daily via the school bus. I was taught by Miss Greensmith, Miss Reeves and Mrs Hughes throughout my school years and participated in Girl Guides, Cooking, Craft and Basketball.I have many fond memories of my time at VCD |

I can remember when I was 13 or 14 of age in 1960 to celebrated for 100 years anniversary, also old deaf woman was Mrs Muir spoke about her old school days. I cant believe that will be 150 years anniversary next year so I would like to know more details please. |

I attended school 1954-1964. I now have built my own house. I am also building steam train. Mr Cook was the principal when I attended school. Also Mr Jeans and Mr Blackwell was a teacher there.I am now married to hearing girl and have five boys. Only one boy half deaf, others all hearing. |

I came from WA and the school had 3 Carol's so they called me CWA. The education was the best at VSDC and I learnt a lot. It was also great to meet many deaf students that have deaf parents too which was almost none in WA deaf school except for my deaf cousins. |

My time in Victorian School for the Deaf Children for 10 years, I loved going to school to be with our friends all the time our time students were 250 that time. I never forget that everyone always get private conversation to used our jumper with hands inside. I would never forget that Sandra was new teacher in V.S.D.C. we teased her few times and she told us off that she got deaf cousin we were shocked! I was in blue team and other team got white we had a great time sport against Glendonald school. My last year in 1978 I was in School captain for sport in green (High) team |

I had a good memories and alots of fun with friends. Our sport team were White and Blue Houses for sport team. My team was White House. |

I have many great fond memories of VCD and I will choose one. I'll never forget Year 9/10 Wongarrara camp with Julie Rees and Bev Gelbart. Before we went to Wongarrara, we werent really looking forward to the hiking, sleeping in a tent etc then after this, we really had a great time. Looking forward for VCD's 150th! |

I attended VCD in 1999-2004 and there were many good experiences I had when I was a student there... I would highlight one experience that I will never forget is that when Jeremy Brett had organised a camp that took a group of us in South Australia I think the place was called Lyndhurst... It was a Solar Eclipse trip and my god, it was extremely beautiful when the eclipse happened! That's one of the fond memories I will always remember |
